It's actually closer to a Mustang, except the scoop underneath is missing, and the tail is too round. The canopy is somewhere between the P-51A and P-51D versions of the Mustangs. The P-51A did not have the bubble canopy and was similar to the canopy on the P-40. Overall there are more similarities to the Mustang than the Warhawk.

well, its not a mustang, more likely p-40 warhawk.

and the invasion stripes were often painted quickly and on the insignias.

the plane itself is pre-war, so the correct usaf star looks like this:
