GTA Vice City - Sky Full of Stars! Mod by MW v 1.0
Simple but effective modification that will enhance Vice City skies in evenings, nights and downs.
Now there is no more empty space above your head but sky full of stars!
Looks better with ENB series visual addon.
1.| Installation:
a. Add listed files to gta3.img archive:
-starmap.txd
-starmap_semi.txd
-starmap_semi2.txd
-and all sixteen .dff files (from starmap1.dff... up to ... starmap4444.dff)
b. Copy directory: 'nightsky' to ... /Data/Maps/
c. Modify the gta_vc.dat file:
-below "IDE DATA\MAPS\haitin\haitin.IDE" add line:
IDE DATA\MAPS\nightsky\nightsky.IDE
-below "COLFILE 0 MODELS\COLL\GENERIC.COL" add line:
COLFILE 0 DATA\MAPS\nightsky\nightsky.COL
-below "IPL DATA\MAPS\mansion\mansion.IPL" add line:
IPL DATA\MAPS\nightsky\nightsky.IPL
d. //<OPTIONAL> Check if your map limits aren't overcome, use Steve's VC Limit Adjuster
to find it out, if necessary adjust appropriate values by mentioned tool <OPTIONAL>//
e. To have HQ moon, using TXDWorkshop import new 'coronamoon' .bmp into particles.txd file in ... /Models/
2.| Features:
- now your sky will look amazing at night time!
- great effect done via four skybox models, as customized TOBJs, each consists
of four parts:
~ from 20 to 21, light stars effect
~ from 21 to 22, medium stars effect
~ from 22 to 5, full stars effect
~ from 5 to 6, light stars effect again
- model height above 570 m up, so still looks good with ~400 m heli vertical limit if such applied
- new sky model has "empty" COL file, so you can go/drive/swim/fly through "stars-box" if you have game area borders adjusted
- bonus! a new high quality moon texture attached in mod archive!

- not all skybox (especially sides) can be visible in all four directions which is dependent of player position on game map area, due to drawing limit - problem deeply explained in developer topic!
- if you zoom in stars texture using on example camera it could seem to be sh*tty quality, however it is 2048x2048, so zooming is not always so good if you want to keep global effect nice

I probably should add that it won't let me load or start a new game, it does the whole unhandled exception notice.
I seem to be doing every step fine other than the gta_vc.dat file... or at least thats what it seems to be.
It works For sure, You must be doing something wrong. Follow the instructions correctly, and it will work. It does not matter if load or new game, it does not have any influence on that. Try to rebuild archive, or better, check if You exceeded some limits on your VC, that's most probably reason of Your problems and unhandled exception...

This night sky looks really nice, but I seem to be having trouble editing the GTA_VC.dat file.
Maybe because I have added to it before I dunno, I try placing the lines after everything, or before the other custom added lines but nothing.
Oh well, at least I get to keep the HD moon.
Already told that One thing to add is the guns are from Grim , generally they are meant to be SA modifications, but i took them to VC you got 3ds max, you re able to do everything :]
What do You mean exactly ? If about graphic modifications used while taking screenshots, i ve already mentioned them in description ;] Also there are things like, HD player mod by goin-god, hi res palms by someone idk exactly, but rextextured a lil by me gta4 radar, remade by me a bit, to have smooth edge, so without dxt compression on its textures in TXD file, disadv is it weight much more then, and so many many things not seen on pics ... ;]
